Garage Kids was the original project before Code Lyoko. There was no Lyoko, instead it was something called X.A.N.A.D.U.
There also was no Aelita.Whoever went to X.A.N.A.D.U through the scanner is able to use there power outside of X.A.N.A.D.U.
For example, Yumi can use her teleknessis on earth and I think Ulrich either uses his triplication or his speed on earth.
